關於師大夜市:舊調重彈,竟成新曲/About the Shida Nightmarket: old tune turns hit

2009年底,為了一個課堂其中作業而拍攝了這支實驗性質、結合了錄像與行為的短片,
目的在於以一個師大學生身兼當地居民的角色,
來看待師大夜市這個當時正蓬勃發展的聚落中,人與環境微妙的互動關係。



當時的切入點是以文藝氣息濃厚的高檔餐廳與典型的夜市小吃為搞笑對象,
讓兩者在食物/餐點命名上的中外差異,來凸顯其中格格不入的張力。
原先全片架構如同一次典型的正統法式西餐程序,約有8-9道菜色,
不過拍攝器材與經驗都不足,原先大半的內容遺失了。


沒想到在兩年多後的今天,師大夜市竟然成為媒體關注的台北地方新聞焦點,
涉及到留存與否的種種爭議與活動,也成了人民與政府(甚至黑白道)價值衝突的第一現場。

幾天前,一位大學同學提起、才讓我記起了這支影片,
回味之餘,竟感到最初隱藏在文字遊戲底下的、隱約的文化衝突角力場早已存在,
我們在不知不覺中見證了這次爭議事件的導火線,且畢竟也感受了些什麼...

感謝  林君,雖然你已經暫時離開藝術這個圈子,
但敏銳又誠摯的心讓你永遠是個最出色的藝術家。





At the end of 2009, being a student of NTNU(National Taiwan Normal University, "Shida")
as well as a resident of this community, I made for a class midterm project  this experimental film.
It's a combination of both video art and performance, aiming at meditating the subtle relationship
between the people and the environment of the ongoing prosperous Shida Nightmarket.


At that time I tried to make fun of the diverse practice on naming the Chinese/Taiwanese cuisines
against the foreign ones, as what you could see in the film, to shape a strong tension out of the same
place.
Initially it was set as a complete order of a typical, formal french restaurant, with approximately 8-9
dishes, however, most of the contents were unfortunately lost on account of my lack of
experiences and better equipments.




It's indeed beyond prediction that, after more than 2 years, the Shida Nightmarket has been
nowadays the focus of the local news throughout the media. The keen status of the nightmarket,
whether disappears or not, has not only risen plenty of arguments and activities, but even
become the first scene of severe value conflict between the people and the government
(not to mention the gangsters).


Few days ago, one of my college classmates reminded me of this video.
Throughout the aftertaste I surprisingly realize that, the ambiguous arena of cultural conflicts
already existed, just hidden under those word games of my inspiration.
We've witnessed the essential fuse of controversy, and so felt something that we never noticed...




My appreciation to mr. Lin, though you've been away from the art field,
your exquisite and honest spirit will always make you a brilliant artist.
